Step beyond the gates of Duneira Estate and discover one of Mount Macedon’s most remarkable historic properties, where art, architecture and garden come together to tell a story more than 150 years in the making.

Established in 1872 as a grand summer retreat for pastoralist Suetonius Officer, Duneira is one of the significant surviving hill stations of Mount Macedon. Today, the estate offers a rare opportunity to experience the house and gardens together and to discover the people, collections and landscape that have shaped Duneira across generations.

Your guided tour begins within the historic house, where beautifully preserved interiors provide an intimate glimpse into life at Duneira during the late a800's and early 1900's. Wander through rooms filled with the remarkable collections of Duneira’s last private owner, Stuart Stoneman, including works of art, books, rugs, furniture and objects gathered over a lifetime.

From the house, the tour continues into Duneira’s magnificent gardens.

The Suetonius Society is a welcoming gathering for readers, writers, thinkers and dreamers. Whether you are working on a novel, journalling, researching, or simply enjoying a good book, you'll have the opportunity to settle into Duneira's historic library or grand drawing room and spend a peaceful afternoon surrounded by inspiration.

From 11.30 am to 1.30 pm, participants are invited to enjoy quiet reading and writing time in the house's most beautiful spaces. Afterwards, join fellow members in the Stables for a Devonshire tea and conversation, sharing ideas, favourite books, writing projects, or simply enjoying good company.

Celebrate Spring with us during our annual Bluebell Festival held at Duneira historic house and garden on Mt Macedon!

Discover a sea of bluebells along Dutch Elm Avenue, with guided garden tours, access to the 1875 homestead and Stuart Stoneman’s art collection. Enjoy CWA scones, coffee, local wine and gin tastings.

In January 2027, Blue Sky Theatre presents an outdoor performance of Alexandre Dumas’ swashbuckling tale of heroism, close escapes, and above all, honour. Oh, and some romance. And plenty of laughs. That’s right, it’s The Three Musketeers.

Adventure, romance, and comedy come together in this riotous outdoor adaptation by Ken Ludwig.

Join dashing D’Artagnan as he dreams of becoming a musketeer and finds himself caught up with the legendary Athos, Porthos and Aramis. With daring duels, dastardly villains and outrageous disguises, this timeless swashbuckler is perfect for a summer night in a stunning garden setting.

Bring a picnic, gather your friends and settle in for an evening of close escapes, honour and plenty of laughs under the stars.

The art collection at Duneira Estate, Mount Macedon, showcases the private collection of late owner Stuart Stoneman. Displayed throughout the 1876 Italianate mansion, it is complemented by antique furniture, Persian rugs, rare books and grand pianos, creating a unique glimpse into the estate’s rich artistic and cultural heritage.

This spring, step into the historic surrounds of Duneira Estate for an afternoon of exquisite Baroque music performed by SocietyXVII.

Featuring Jamie Hey, Baroque cello; Edwina Cordingley, Baroque cello; and Nicholas Pollock, theorbo, SocietyXVII will present a beautiful program drawn from the rich musical traditions of 17th- and 18th-century Europe.

The afternoon’s repertoire will include cello sonatas, canons and duos, alongside intimate solo works for Baroque cello and theorbo. The program is expected to feature works by composers including Tessarini, Dall'Abaco, Boismortier, Platti, Saggione, Scarlatti and Bach.

Set within the elegant and historic interiors of Duneira Estate, this intimate performance offers a rare opportunity to experience Baroque music in surroundings perfectly suited to its character — a spring afternoon of music, art and history on Mount Macedon.

We invite you to arrive early, enjoy a glass of wine and settle into the atmosphere of Duneira before the music begins.

A Perpetual Journal is a log or sketchbook—popularised by botanical artist Lara Call Gastinger—where pages are organised by date ranges or weeks of the year rather than a single specific calendar year and help us really notice the seasons around us. It offers a regular space that you can sit down to and make note of the natural world whether that be through the written or drawn marks. The incremental adding to the journal means that across a year, or several years, a beautiful artefact of a life is made, and notes about the natural world around us are recorded

This class will be run in four parts to mimic the Western Seasonal calendar. You can attend one or all four, a discount is provided for multiple bookings.

The class will be held at Mount Macedon’s beautiful Duneira Gardens. Beginning with a tour of the garden, we will take a few cuttings of specimens that catch our eye. Once we sit down students will be led through a series of drawing exercises to warm up before really getting down to the act of looking and capturing our natural objects in our Journals.
